Speaking in English

2020. 4. 13. 17:12YUNSTORY 윤스토리/CHATTING ROOM 잡담

As a Korean, English isn't a language that is easy to speak or write.

Even though we have spent our whole lives, at least half of our lifetime, studying English, it is still a big problem.

I was thinking why Koreans have a problem with English, not other conturies. (maybe besides Japan)

The level of education of English in Korea is very high, I suppose.

Still, few people have the ability to Speak or write English without fear.

Fear, yes. That's the reason why we all have difficulty with it.

Since we have been taught by teachers that “You shouldn't miss any questions, and any grammar mistakes can't be acceptable”.

That makes people, espeically young kids, have a great fear of English.

If I can't speak English, I'll be a loser. So we stop trying.

If I can't notice any grammar mistakes, I'll fail the exam. So we start looking for mistakes even in natural conversation in daily life.

I am not sure that English education in Korea has led the young Korean students, or all past students, well.

I wonder what would happen if we change our system to be a bit more natural and give them less pressure.

If you want to make Korean people speak English, what would you do?

You need to study grammar and vocabulary, of course, but what if we have a different test, not just looking for what is wrong with sentences. Grammar mistakes can be overcome by using more English.

I believe that every student has the right to study and be taught well and hope their study is related with the real world, not only the paper world.

I know there are a lot of mistakes in this but I don't have much fear.

Because I enjoy writing and sharing my opinion to the world, even if it's the internet world.

Thank you.
